  Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Echocardiology, and as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team providing patient-centred care, the Cardiac Sonographer, Adult Services performs cardiac ultrasound with a focus on adult procedures; receives and completes requisitions, forms and reports; prepares and monitors supplies and equipment; monitors patients; and operates ultrasound equipment, including preparing and presenting patient data to physicians.


A. Education, Training and Experience

Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma Program; eligible for cardiac sonographer certification with the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) and/or eligible for Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Adult (RDCS, Adult) certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); and one (1) year recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Basic Life Support Certificate, Level C (BLSC)
