  Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Leader or designate, the Ultrasound Sonographer Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures, by receiving and completing requisitions, forms and reports; preparing and presenting patient data to radiologists; operating ultrasound equipment; and monitoring supplies.


  Qualifications

A. Education, Training and Experience


Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.
Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification credentials and one (1) year recent, related experience in an acute health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Eligible for registration for the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasonographers (CSDMS).
