  Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Protection Services, the Protection Services Officer (PSO) ensures department policies and procedures are followed incorporating guiding principals.  PSO's protect the Vancouver Island Health Authority's (VIHA) clients, property and information, responds to and investigates requests for assistance from staff, patients and the public in matters of security, fire and parking.


  Qualifications

A level of education training and experience equivalent to high school graduation, training in a police, security or fire emergency services field and at least one year of recent related experience.  Must have valid B.C Security workers license with an A.S.T endorsement. Valid Level II first aid certification. Eligibility for certification as a Peace Officer.  A Police Officers' Physical Ability Test (POPAT) time suitable to the organization.  Valid BC drivers license.
